The church of St. Irene and St. Markella is a parish located in the Mile End district of Montreal, Quebec and is under the jurisdiction of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Toronto (Canada).

Our parish is named and consecrated in honour of St. Irene Chrysovalantou and St. Markella Chiopolitis.

St. Irene of Chrysovalantou who was originally from Cappadocia, was the abbess of the monastery of Chrysovalantou during the ninth century. Her feast day is on July 28.

The holy and glorious Virgin-martyr Markella of Chios is the patron saint of Chios and was born and lived during the fourteenth century in the village of Volissos of Chios. Her feast day is celebrated on July 22.
