History
The church of St. Irene and St. Markella is located in the Mile-End borough of Montréal, Quebec, Canada.
The church building was completed in 1920 and originally housed the Tiffereth Israel Synagogue before being used as a Protestant church. Finally, under Father Spyridon it was founded as a Greek Orthodox Church dedicated to St. Irene and St. Markella. The parish originally followed the old style calendar before joining the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Toronto (Canada) under the jurisdiction of the Patriarchate of Constantinople.
